Our team of highly experienced PR, marketing, writing and design professionals all have an in-depth knowledge of B2B public relations. They are passionate about delighting and exciting our clients.
FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN
Cathy set up Magenta in 2011 to plug the gap between the big PR agencies, which have huge expertise but lack the in-depth knowledge of the clients and publications, and the one-man-bands, who are brilliant with clients and journalists but often don’t have the necessary bandwidth or range of skills. Cathy now acts as Magenta’s chairman, supporting the agency’s existing clients and growing the businesses in the UK, Europe and North America.
Cathy has more than 20 years’ experience in a range of journalism, publishing and marketing roles including founding and editing FM World (now Facilitate) magazine. She’s also deputy chairman of the IWFM London region and a volunteer for CoreNet Global. Cathy holds a Master’s degree in journalism and the CIPR’s Post-Graduate Diploma in public relations.

Design is Mark’s passion. From magazines, brochures and reports to websites and tablet apps, his designs are always eye-catching, exciting and relevant. Mark works closely with Magenta’s clients to bring their visions to life, guiding them through the process, unlocking their thinking and executing the brief to the very highest standard. With more than 25 years’ experience in the design industry, across B2B and B2C media, Mark has worked with a wide variety of clients including large enterprises, start-ups, professional institutes and not-for-profit organisations.
When Mark’s not in front of his Mac designing, he’s in the kitchen cooking pasta so good some of the Magenta team suspect he might be Italian.
As Magenta’s client director, Shahlia helps our clients achieve their communications goals in new and interesting ways. She’s passionate about story-hunting, developing new ideas and building productive relationships with interesting people. Over the past 15+ years Shahlia has built up experience working across sectors for big household names as well as smaller start-ups. She learned the trade in full-service agencies. Before joining Magenta, Shahlia’s curiosity led her to in-house roles where she had the opportunity to understand the pressures and motivations that guide PR and comms from the other side of the fence.
Outside of work you will often find Shahlia dragging her bulldog, Bernie, along the beach or over the South Downs, as she tries to convince him of the benefits to getting out of bed.

DIRECTOR COMMUNICATIONS North America
After 18 months as Magenta’s content manager, Simon moved to North America to sell the Magenta dream across the Atlantic. His background is in journalism having spent a decade editing magazines and websites for the facilities management industry. These roles gave him a breadth of knowledge in FM, outsourcing, corporate real estate, workplace design and management, and HR.
Simon is a passionate believer in the power of storytelling and contends that its tenets hold true in all forms of writing, from classic literature to public relations. His aim is to always produce thought-provoking, engaging and accessible content. In his spare time, Simon is known to rant about books, films and big ideas. Magenta’s head office is quieter without him.

Greg has always been interested in media and is a keen writer, so PR and communications is a natural fit for him. He started his career at the University of Brighton Students’ Union in a two-person marketing and communications team, where he had to hit the ground running.
Greg then moved to the US, where he lived for five years. He worked at a PR agency in San Francisco with clients from a range of industries including retail, property and tech. He also spent some time at an early childhood education charity in Oakland, California, where he achieved two of his biggest PR successes: a quote in an Economist article, and a story about the charity on NBC News.
Outside of work, Greg enjoys football, podcasts, reading and video games.
With a BSc in biology from the University of York and a background in marketing and student journalism, Ellie’s passion lies in turning complex information into engaging and relevant content. She works with a range of Magenta’s clients on both short- and long-form pieces. Her move from biology to content writing occurred via a brief spell in circus school.
Ellie is currently studying for a Master’s in Media Practice for Development and Social Change at the University of Sussex. Her varied background has been an attempt at exploring the innumerable ways in which we communicate. Outside work, Ellie is involved with some social and environmental advocacy groups but mostly she’s just trying to keep her plethora of houseplants alive.
As account executive at Magenta, Laura writes content, manages social media accounts and supports the team with client campaigns within the B2B and B2C sectors.
