Looking back on 2017…

The M-People wanted to share their highlights from the last 12 months, now that we are settling into 2018…!

2017 was a truly magnificent year for Magenta for multiple reasons; the company was awarded Sussex Small Business of the Year, shortlisted for Best Place to Work at the Brighton & Hove Business Awards, enjoyed a fantastic team trip to Lisbon, took on even more fantastic clients, recruited more fabulous M-People (including our first ever year-long placement student), and things are only looking bigger and better for 2018 too. So, with this in mind, the team wanted to reflect on our personal highlights at Magenta…

Account director, Jo: “Touching down in NYC with Cathy to join our client at the launch of the Boston Consulting Group’s new head office in Hudson Yards; we got the chance to meet loads of lovely US editors and journalists; many of whom we were lucky to work with in 2017.”

Account manager, Tom: “My standout moments include: Lisbon, the summer party at the Madison, winning new business, taking on new challenges, writing client reports, attending events, and learning new things! The year absolutely flew by and so much has changed in that time. Magenta had an excellent year in 2017, and it was great to be a part of it. I’m excited to see what 2018 has in store.”

Managing director, Cathy: “2017 has been a truly fantastic year for Magenta. We’ve continued the ongoing journey with our fabulous clients, helping them grow and venture into new markets, both overseas and here at home. On top of that, we’ve won some cracking new accounts, which is taking us into exciting territories within the thriving built environment sector. Winning the Sussex Business Award for Small Business of the Year in November was the cherry on the cake, and I’m very proud of the M-People for their achievements. Oh, and I fulfilled my dream of trekking the Himalayas and doing my first sky dive!”

Account manager, Esme: “My highlight is undoubtedly my remote working week in mainland Europe. I knew it would be an exciting and full on week, with Madrid Monday and Tuesday, London on the Wednesday and then Lisbon on Thursday and Friday… but when flights are cancelled, you have no hotel, you’re stuck in Spain and have to skip your new business meeting to head to Portugal a night early to meet the rest of M-people for some custard tarts, a boat trip and team building… well, that makes a pretty exhilarating working week.”

Senior account manager, Carole: “Winning the Small Business of the Year accolade at the Sussex Business Awards in November was ‘absolutely fabulous’, especially against such impressive competition. It was wonderful to get recognition of what a great company Magenta is and the excellence of our work for all our clients, which was particularly mentioned in the citation.”

Account executive, Gemma: “The summer BBQ was my first, and best, memory of Magenta in 2017. I was set to join the company and had been invited along to meet the team. Starting a new job is always nerve-wracking, but everyone was so fun and welcoming that I couldn’t wait to start the job!”

Office manager, Kat: “My highlight was joining the team, and then helping get the brand new office ship shape and shiny. It took a fair bit of doing, but we absolutely love the space now!”

Creative director, Mark: “My highlight was designing the branding for our annual learning and development campaign, ‘Learn Something New Week’, and launching our own website for it. I’m really proud of that”

Junior account executive, Ollie: “I couldn’t choose between the two… so, my first is going to Lisbon with the team in October – the champagne river tour watching the sun set over Portugal was something I’ll never forget in my life. Second, was winning the SBA for Best Small Business – we were all absolutely elated and it’s a night I’ll remember forever – I felt immensely proud of the team and the company.”
