Magenta doubles in size in Lancaster

FullSizeRenderJust over a year since Magenta Associates opened its Lancaster White Cross-based office, Tom Parker is doubling the local team as the new PR account executive. Magenta, a specialist communications agency for the built environment, based in Brighton, was established in 2011 by MD Cathy Hayward.

Hayward commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Tom to the team. His support will enable us to grow our business in the north. We already have clients in the north-west, who we are helping take their key messages out to target audiences in the world of facilities management, FM technology, data centres, and food manufacturing to name just a few.”

Tom completed a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature with Creative Writing at Lancaster University where he immediately went on to complete a Masters in Literary Studies. An interest in media and marketing led Tom to take minor studies in media, film and culture while the literature, creative writing and media course modules allowed him to develop a critical approach and creative style to his work. He has also worked in voluntary roles editing an online magazine and writing for Lancaster University’s online literature magazine.

He has also been at the coalface of providing workplace services. While studying, Tom has worked in both catering and site management for an organisation of over 2000 people. “My experience of frontline FM has given me a greater perspective and wider understanding of the industry and customer relations,” said Parker.

After completing his Masters, Tom worked for the Employment and Support Team at Lancashire County Council where he supported the Business Engagement Team. Liaising with businesses across Lancashire, he helped to create apprenticeships and work placements for young people. Tom’s dedication to his work and commitment to helping young people led to him being nominated for a Pride of the Council Award in 2015.

Tom’s main interest outside of work is film and other media. He is particularly interested in anime and Japanese art and he is looking at starting an anime themed blog.
